Provet Cloud PACS and Worklist
Using the Provet Cloud PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), you can archive DICOM images created by your clinic's or hospital's imaging devices to the Provet Cloud PACS imaging service over the Internet. For viewing DICOM images, the Provet Cloud PACS solution includes the MedDream viewer which is a fully web-based DICOM image viewer with extended functionalities for viewing, downloading, and sending images. No installations on local computers are needed for the viewer. You can view DICOM images by using any internet-connected device with a modern web browser.
The Provet Cloud PACS can also be connected with 3rd party viewers such as Osirix and Horos. These 3rd party viewers may be required for high quality diagnostics work with certain modalities, such as CT and MRI.
The PACS works hand-in-hand with the diagnostic imaging worklist which is used for sending diagnostic imaging referrals from Provet Cloud to your diagnostic imaging devices. The referrals created in Provet Cloud can include patient information and information about how the imaging should be done, for example, which area of the animal should be studied. Using the worklist, you do not need to enter this information into your devices manually.
These features are an add-on functionality to Provet Cloud with extra monthly cost and set-up fees. The diagnostic imaging integration is set up by a Provet Cloud specialist with the help of the device provider. For more information about adding the features to your subscription, please contact your local Provet Cloud Sales representative or Provet Cloud Support.
Requirements for Imaging Devices
Image Archiving to PACS
Connectivity to the Provet Cloud PACS requires that the diagnostic imaging devices being connected are equipped with DICOM Send functionality (may also be called PACS image archival functionality). Depending on the device, this may be a standard feature or additional licensable feature.
Worklist Sending from Provet Cloud to the Imaging Device
Provet Cloud’s DICOM modality worklist functionality allows diagnostic imaging requests to be transferred from Provet Cloud to the worklist section of your modalities. This is often referred to as RIS connectivity (Radiology Information System connectivity) in the diagnostic imaging devices. Depending on the device, this may be a standard feature or additional licensable feature.
Worklist Blackbox
The worklist blackbox is a Linux device that acts as a proxy for your DICOM devices to ensure secure transmission of incoming DICOM studies directly to your Provet Cloud environment. The blackbox also provides a local worklist service to your DICOM devices to facilitate study requests from Provet Cloud directly into your DICOM device. This process allows study requests to arrive at the imaging system without the need for manually entering data such as the patient name, client name, etc.
Connectivity and Ports
The blackbox can be connected to the network at any physical location as long as the IP
address of the blackbox is accessible by the imaging systems and has unrestricted outgoing
internet access.
