Activate a Payment Terminal

1. Inspect the package and payment terminal.

This inspection is required by the PCI DSS to protect the card payments environment.

  • Inspect the package for any damage.
  • Inspect the payment terminal for any damage.
  • Double check that the payment terminal serial number matches with the stickers on the box (for device replacement).
  • Inspect for any added devices, such as skimmers.

If there are any issues with the package or the terminal, please contact Nordhealth support.

2. Get an admin code for your payment terminal.

Contact Nordhealth Support for your terminal’s admin code. You will need it for the rest of the process.

3. Turn the payment terminal on.

  1. Plug the terminal in to the power supply and turn it on.
  2. Set up the wifi if the terminal prompts for it. If not, do the following:

    • Verifone: Open the settings by pressing 9 and the green button. Go to Network to connect to your wifi.
    • Castles: Open the settings from the application icon. Go to Network to connect to your wifi.

If you have a terminal model that supports connecting to an ethernet cable, use it instead. If you have a mobile terminal, you may have a SIM card connected to the cellular 4G network. Note that you should still use your local wifi as your primary connection.

  3. When prompted, board the terminal.

  4. Go to the Provet Pay management page and go to Active terminals. You should see your payment terminal in the list.

  5. Select the button with three dots and select Edit terminal assignment from the pop-up menu. Select the department you want to assign the payment terminal to.

4. Update the payment terminal software.

Make sure that you have an admin code for your terminal. If not, please contact Nordhealth Support.

  • Verifone: Open the settings by pressing 9 and the green button. Go to Software and update the software.

  • Castles: Open the settings from the application icon. Go to Device info > Software version > Update.

If the terminal does not immediately start downloading the update, please leave this page open for a few minutes. The terminal should pick up the new version and start downloading.

It is important to keep the terminal up to date. Software versions that are too old will be blocked from processing.

5. Update / reset the payment terminal configuration.

Make sure that you have an admin code for your terminal. If not, please contact Nordhealth Support.

  • Verifone: Open the settings by pressing 9 and the green button. Go to Configuration and update or reset it.
  • Castles:  Open the settings from the application icon. Go to Config and update or reset it.

After every new configuration (terminal assigned to another department, new payment method etc.), you have to update or reset the configuration. The terminal does this automatically every three hours if you leave it connected to the Internet.

Note that terminal updates may take some time to install. Once the updates are completed, your terminal is ready for payment processing.
