Use Department Rates and Royalty Fee on a Consultation

Clinics that operate after official hours often charge department rates, meaning that a price increase is applied to consultation items due to higher staff costs during these hours. When department rates have been set, they are automatically applied according to the settings when you add items on a consultation or a treatment estimate.

A royalty fee may also be in use for an item. In this case, the department rates are only applied to a part of the item price.

By default, department rates are automatically applied when you add an item on a consultation or treatment estimate. If you do not want to apply department rates, select the No department rates checkbox in the item dialogue.

In the following example, a 50% department rate is applied with a 50% royalty fee. This means that the 50% department rate increase on the procedure item price is applied only to 50% of the item price, resulting in a 25% increase on the item price.
