You can schedule appointments for multiple patients in one go. A multi-patient consultation includes the records of all the patients linked to the appointment.
This option is useful for routine visits such as vaccinations. For complex cases, it is best to create separate appointments and consultations. To maintain clarity and accuracy, especially for hospital stays and insurance claims, use separate consultations for each patient even if seen together.
Multi-patient appointments is a standard feature in Provet Cloud. No setup is needed.
To schedule an appointment for multiple patients, enter each patient's name in the Patient field when creating a new appointment. Then complete the other appointment details and save the appointment as usual.
Check-in: When the patients arrive, check the patients in as you normally would. On the check-in page, you can edit the patient information for all patients in the appointment.
Start the consultation: Begin the consultation as you would for a single patient.
Identify multi-patient consultations: Throughout the consultation, clear indicators show if the consultation involves multiple patients and which patients are included. You can access each patient's history, and the blue top bar remains visible as you scroll.
Clinical notes: When adding clinical notes, you can apply the same note to all patients in the consultation or select specific patients. If you choose all patients, the same note appears in each patient's record. See how to add clinical notes for patients.
Add treatment items: When adding treatment items to the consultation, you can apply the item to all patients or to selected patients in the consultation. See how to add treatment items to a consultation.
Add diagnoses and other entries: When adding diagnoses or other information, you can apply the entry to multiple patients or individual patients. See how to add a diagnosis.
Discharge instructions: Since all the patients of the consultation have the same owner, you only need to add discharge instructions once and they apply to all patient records.
Invoice: The invoice shows which patients the items are associated with.
