A patient referral occurs when a patient’s medical care is transferred from one veterinary professional or clinic to another, typically for speciality or secondary medical care. A clinic or hospital can refer patients to other clinics or hospitals or receive referrals from other practitioners.
The Provet Cloud patient referrals functionality can be used to process received patient referrals. It makes transferring medical records and communication easier while maintaining a comprehensive record of patient care.
Using the basic Provet Cloud patient referrals functionality, you can create received patient referrals manually in your Provet Cloud and send feedback by email to the referring veterinarian. Using the Provet Cloud Referral Portal add-on functionality, your clinic or hospital can allow other practitioners to send patient referrals directly to your clinic's Provet Cloud through the web portal. You can also send referral feedback and diagnostic materials to the referring practitioners using the Referral Portal.
Additional set-up is required by the Provet Cloud team to enable the patient referrals functionality and the Referral Portal. Please contact our support team to discuss add-on costs and arrange for feature set-up.
Patient referrals are listed on the Patient Referrals tab of the Provet Cloud Dashboard. Referrals sent from the Referral Portal arrive to this tab, and this is also where you can create a new patient referral if you do not use the Referral Portal.
Using the Filter field, you can search for referrals by client or patient name or ID, referring organisation, or referring veterinarian. You can also filter the list by personnel, ward, or referral status. The Show extended search button opens more search options.
From Columns, you can select the columns to show in the list. To save your selected filters and columns so that the same selections are applied the next time you view the referral list, select the wrench tool button > Save filters.
You also can filter referrals by status. The referral status changes automatically when you receive and edit a referral, book an appointment, admit the appointment and start the consultation, send feedback, and complete the referral. You can also change the status manually at any time.
