Overview

If an item's barcode should change or requires updating, Provet Cloud offers a quick and convenient way to search using the barcode to confirm it is not previously assigned to an item, and then link the new barcode to a previously created item and immediately update the information.

Linking Item Barcodes

1. Access item settings by following: Settings > Items & Lists > Items.
2. Enter the new barcode digits in the item search field. If an item is available which has the barcode assigned previously, the item will appear as a result. If no item is currently assigned to that barcode, no item results will appear.
3. A 'Link barcode' button will appear next to the search field if the barcode is not previously assigned. Select the 'Link barcode' button to prompt the barcode link prompt. Note that a minimum of 10 digits is required before the button will appear.
   
4. Search for the item you wish to update the barcode information for using the item search field. Once an item is defined, any current old barcode information will populate. The previously searched barcode will populate in the 'New barcode' field.
5. Select 'Save' once all information has been reviewed and confirmed.
   

Managing One Item with 2 Barcodes

If an item should carry to two barcodes which you wish to search and identify the product by, an additional barcode can be defined within an item's 'Code' field.

1. Access item settings by following: Settings > Items & lists > Items.
2. Search for the desired item you wish to update using the search field.
3. Identify the item and select the edit pen icon located at the end of the item row.
4. Identify the code informational field.
5. Enter the secondary barcode digits within the code field. The code field may previously be in use for SKU product information.
6. Select 'Save' once all information has been reviewed and confirmed.
