Introduction
Sale items in Provet Cloud should have a defined selling price, and sometimes it's needed that more than one price is defined - based on the way the item is used.
For example, consider a case where a food item is sold as a box of 10 small packs, but it's also possible to sell the packs individually. In that case, a clinic may want to design pricing in such a way that buying small packs is a bit more expensive to the customer, giving an effective discount to buying a whole box. This kind of flexible pricing setup can be achieved with Provet Cloud's alternative pricing function.
This article gives instructions on how to use alternative prices in different areas of Provet Cloud. We use an example where an item 'Cat food' is sold, and it has a base price of 31.20 € per package (we have called it a 'box'). An alternative price has been set up for the item, where a unit ('pack') costs 3.84 € to the customer. The item setup idea is that when buying it as a box, 30% markup is applied, but when buying it as individual packs, 60% markup is applied instead.
Counter Sales, Consultations and Consultation Invoices
When searching for items on counter sales, consultations or consultation invoice pages, any alternative prices (an item can have more than one alternative price) are displayed with an indent, plus an additional name or description behind the item's base name that is defined by the staff member who has created the item.
If you select the base item 'Cat food' in this case, you can still use the item normally, and you can also sell it as with different usage sizes (units or packages) if needed, but in our case, it is not intended by the clinic.
If you select the alternative price 'Cat food - Pack-price', you are effectively selling the item with the defined alternative price displayed on the search result row.
Note that the displayed prices are based on the default usage size (unit or package). When selecting an alternative price, you can't change the usage size.
Cost Estimates
When creating cost estimates, adding alternative price items works very much the same way as it does with counter sales and consultations. You can add one or all alternative prices of a single item to a single estimate and later select which one to use.
Item Templates
Again, when using item templates that have items with alternative prices, the usage is straightforward. A template can contain all alternative prices of an item, with varying quantities. Select the desired price and use the template as usual.
