Overview of Laboratory Integrations

Provet Cloud provides integrations to any lab devices you use in your clinic or hospital or devices you may consider purchasing. Different device families are connected to Provet Cloud using different integrations. To integrate all your devices, you may need one or more integrations.

When you use an integration, laboratory referrals with patient information can be sent from Provet Cloud to your laboratory devices without having to enter the information manually into the devices. Using a two-way integration, the results can also be uploaded to Provet Cloud automatically.

Laboratory integrations are add-ons to Provet Cloud. Contact our sales team for more information and advice on the best setup for your devices.

Lablink

Lablink is an independent software used for connecting in-house laboratory devices with laboratory information systems or practice management systems such as Provet Cloud.

Lablink is installed on a Windows computer in the clinic's or hospital's laboratory. Integrating devices using Lablink is an advanced process that is handled by the Provet Cloud team.

The devices and integrations available with Lablink:

IDEXX InterLink™ Cloud Plug-In

The IDEXX Vetlab Station is a laboratory information management system created by IDEXX. It connects, manages and communicates with one or more IDEXX analysers, such as LaserCyte, ProCyte Dx, Catalyst Dx and LaserCyte Dx.

IDEXX InterLink™ Cloud Plug-In is a Windows application developed by the Provet Cloud team. It is used to integrate a Provet Cloud account with an IDEXX VetLab Station and any analysers connected to it. It provides a two-way connection, meaning that you can send laboratory referrals containing patient and  owner information and the requested analyses from Provet Cloud directly to the IVLS, and the completed results are automatically transferred from the IVLS to the consultation and the patient records in Provet Cloud.

This integration can be set up with the Lablink option described above, but it is also available separately with the Cloud Plug-In, allowing you to do the setup yourself with your local IT administrator. If you prefer, you can also order setup services from Provet Cloud.

The integration can be set up so that the IVLS can receive requests from one or several Provet Cloud departments.

See how to set up the IDEXX VetLab Station integration.

Terminology

IDEXX VetLab Station: Abbreviated as IVLS. This is the central IDEXX-branded computer that connects all IDEXX analysers and connects to another Windows computer that hosts its integration software, the IDEXX InterLink.

IDEXX InterLink™: Often abbreviated as InterLink. This is a program from IDEXX that is used to connect with various external parties, for example, practice management systems like Provet Cloud.

IDEXX InterLink Cloud Plug-in™: Abbreviated as ICP. This program is installed into the same computer that hosts the InterLink program. This program has been developed by Provet Cloud and creates a connection between Provet Cloud and the InterLink program.

scil vIP

Using the scil vIP integration, you can automatically generate a laboratory order and have the results automatically connected to and uploaded back to Provet Cloud. The results are attached to the original referral as well as included in the patient's history.

You can connect the scil vIP software to Provet Cloud using a Windows application developed by the Provet Cloud team. Note that the connection is unidirectional and only sends results from your devices to Provet Cloud. If you do not already have a scil vIP software license, you need to acquire it from your local representative.

You can do the setup yourself with your local IT administrator or order setup services from Provet Cloud.

See how to use the scil vIP integration.

Known devices:

VetScan FUSE

Together with Zoetis, Provet Cloud has created an integration with the VetScan FUSE system. Using the integration, you can send laboratory referrals to selected VetScan devices and diagnostic results back to Provet Cloud.

Supported Devices

Device Directory of Services Type

VETSCAN VS2

Chemistry Bidirectional
VETSCAN HM5 Hematology Bidirectional
VETSCAN VSpro Chemistry2 Unidirectional
VETSCAN VUE RapidTests Bidirectional
VETSCAN VA Urinalysis Bidirectional
VETSCAN IMAGYST Fecalanalysis Bidirectional
VETSCAN UA Urinalysis Bidirectional

The FUSE system is set up by a Zoetis representative and the integration with Provet Cloud by the Provet Cloud team. The FUSE system is set up first and can then be integrated with Provet Cloud. Before requesting the integration, make sure that you meet the following requirements:

  • The FUSE system is connected to the clinic's network, preferably with a cable connection.
  • The FUSE system has a fixed IP address and it is known.
  • A 'Client ID' has been provided by Zoetis.
  • You have a list of devices connected to FUSE which you want to integrate.
  • You have a list of laboratory items or panels in your item list that you want to work with the integration.

See how to use the VetScan FUSE Integration.

External Laboratory Integrations

IDEXX VetConnect Plus

Using the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS external laboratory integration, you can create laboratory referrals that are sent directly to an IDEXX laboratory and have the test results automatically uploaded to the original referral as well as to the patient records in Provet Cloud.

The integration provides an automatically generated list of lab test codes and test pricing. When adding IDEXX specific laboratory tests on a consultation, the items show '(IDEXX VetConnect PLUS)' after the test name.

This integration is a Provet Cloud add-on. Contact our sales team for more information.

See how to set up the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS integration.

Laboklin

Provet Cloud can be integrated with various external laboratories, including Laboklin. In the traditional Laboklin workflow, a paper referral sheet is used for ordering analyses. With the Laboklin integration, there is no need for paper sheets but users can browse Laboklin analyses and order them directly from the Provet Cloud consultation page. The sample itself is sent to Laboklin as usual.

The Laboklin integration is an add-on of Provet Cloud. You also need to have an existing cooperation with Laboklin. When the integration has been added to your Provet Cloud subscription, you need to notify Laboklin that you are planning to open an integration with Provet Cloud. The Laboklin integration set-up requires technical help from the Provet Cloud team. Please contact Provet Cloud support to proceed.

The following information is required from you:

  • Laboklin username and password. Note that Laboklin requires each department to have their own credentials.
  • Laboklin account number
  • Decide if you want to use pricing that comes from Laboklin. If yes, decide if you want to mark up Laboklin prices and how.

See how to create a referral using the Laboklin integration.
