Introduction
Medicine refills or renewals can be completed from the patient page and the product sales history module. This module is not only useful for quickly reviewing and invoicing previously sold products such as medicines, foods, or supplies, but it also allows users to quickly use approved medicine refills or renew an expired medication prescription.
Creating a Dispensed Prescription with Refills
Add any medicine or food treatment item(s) to an ongoing consultation, including a refill quantity. A usage type of 'Dispensed' is typically selected. Complete consultation and invoicing per your normal workflow.
Using Refills
Once a dispensed medicine prescription has been created with refills, the refills are available for future use.
- Access the 'Product Sales History' located on the patient page.
- Locate the medication or food item(s) you wish to refill using the available search field and filters.
- Select items to refill to create a new counter sale. Clicking on a single or multiple item rows will prompt the toolbar in the lower-left corner of your page. Select 'Add to counter sale' to begin a new counter sale. Alternatively, clicking the shopping cart icon at the end of an item row will also open the new counter sale prompt for that single item.
- Complete product sale information
Within the product sale prompt, complete item sale information will be available. Any previous instructions are also default made available for use or editing.

This field denotes the number of units or packages approved for each approved refill. This field cannot be edited.
Refills Usage
This field can be used to refill a quantity greater than the original refill amount, however, it remains within the approved refill quantity and the total prescribed amount. In the example above, 2 refills used can be entered, which would update the quantity refilled to 2 and remove 2 allowed refills from the 'Refills' column.
Refills
This field displays the total number of approved refills and the number of refills remaining. This field cannot be edited.
