Introduction
While Provet Cloud has a built-in MedDream DICOM Viewer, it's also possible to connect your preferred diagnostic image viewer.
How it Works
The requirement for the third party viewer program is that it has to support URL-based opening of the viewer. In order to set the connection up, we need an URL address for the viewer, which has to be accessible from the networks from where the users of the DICOM image viewer want to view the images. That may be either the clinic's/hospital's internal network only or the whole Internet. The 3rd party PACS provider needs to provide this and arrange the required network settings with the local IT department of the clinic/hospital.
As a parameter, Provet Cloud can pass the patient ID number for the image viewer. This allows the 3rd party viewer to open the images for the right patient from the 3rd party PACS.
Configuration in Provet Cloud
In Provet Cloud, navigate to Settings > General > Integrations > Diagnostic Imaging Settings. There are two important settings for us.
Image archive (PACS) in use - toggle this to enable the connection.
Image archive (PACS) URL - use this field to define the URL address described above. Note that the name of the setting is misleading at this time, the URL meant here is the viewer URL. The patient ID will be automatically added to the end of the URL address.
