Introduction
Tasks are an internal communication tool that allows users to create personal tasks with reminders, assign tasks to other users and notify users when tasks or events are completed.
Tasks can be created for a single occurrence or for repeated occurrences. For example, a single task can be created to schedule a follow-up appointment with a patient; or, office staff can have a repeated task of completing the end-of-day report.
Additionally, tasks can be generated automatically for certain events. Automatic tasks enable users to improve day-to-day functions and staff efficiency as well as overall clinic profit. Examples of automatic task creation reminders include laboratory referrals, unpaid invoices, etc. Tasks are virtual equivalents to paper sticky notes.
Creating a New Task
-
Select the task button from the header of any page, which looks like a paper sheet with a checkmark.
-
Select 'New task'.
-
A new 'Create task' prompt will open. Complete relevant information fields. A title and user or ward must be defined before saving a new task.
-
Select 'Save' when all necessary information is defined.
Wards
A specific ward can be designated to assist in managing triage services and emergency appointments. This further allows staff to identify and prioritise patient needs.
Repeating Task
You may select to create a repeating task by checking ' Repeating task'. This is helpful for a task that is completed daily, weekly, etc. When checked, additional fields will appear where you can adjust for end type, start date/time, the recurring type and specify if the task is active.
Task Dashboard
The task dashboard provides an overview of all tasks. It is accessed by selecting 'All tasks' from the drop-down menu from the task button (paper sheet with a checkmark on the header). Here, you can filter for specific tasks by department, deadline, user, ward, type of task, favourited tasks and task completion. You can also create a new task by selecting the '+New task' button.
Additionally, you can view tasks by clicking on the task title in blue text. From the view task window, you can mark the task as done, edit the task or book an appointment.
To quickly mark a task as done, simply click the green checkmark under the controls column related to the completed task.
