Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) Payments

Introduction

A mail order/telephone order (MOTO) payment refers to a card-not-present transaction, where the payment details are presented to the merchant (clinic) by a shopper (client, animal owner) by means of mail (not email), fax or telephone.

By passing the data to the merchant, the cardholder gives the clinic permission to process the transaction.

MOTO payments are considered insecure. There is no liability shift and the merchant (clinic) is fully liable for fraud chargebacks related to MOTO payments.

Taking a MOTO Payment

  1. Follow the normal sales flow until the Provet Pay dialogue is opened.
  2. Select MOTO as the payment method.
  3. When the terminal prompts, enter the client's (animal owner's) card number and CVC code that they can give you by mail, phone or fax.
  4. If the Address Verification System (AVS) is enabled and available, enter the client's postal code and house number into the payment terminal

NOTE: Saving card on file (tokenization) is not available with MOTO payments.
